Cookie Policy

• parasol_boards — remembers which boards this browser has visited so we can show “your boards” on the home page and the in-board board switcher. Contents are minimal: each board’s slug, its name, and the time you last opened it. Set by your browser (readable by our server so the list can be rendered for you), SameSite=Lax, expires after ~1 year. Clear it any time with “Clear all” on the home page.
• parasol_sid — an anonymous random id for your browser, used only to apply rate limits fairly (so several teammates sharing one office IP aren’t throttled as if they were one person). Contains no personal data. HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax, expires after ~1 year.
• parasol_name — the display name you chose, shown next to your cursor so other people looking at the same board know who’s who. Set only if you type one; skipping gives you a random animal name instead. It stays on this browser, is never linked to an account, and is shared only with other people who already have the board’s link. SameSite=Lax, expires after ~1 year.
• parasol_auth_<slug> — only for password-protected boards. Stores a HMAC-signed token proving you entered the correct password. HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax, expires after 30 days.

Two small preferences, both purely local and neither sent to us: parasol.density (your chosen timeline zoom level) and parasol.name-skipped (whether you’ve dismissed the name prompt, so it doesn’t keep asking).

Your visited-boards list used to live here too; it now lives in the parasol_boards cookie above. The first time you load the new version, any old local-storage entry is moved into the cookie and removed.

• No analytics cookies. Our analytics (PostHog) is configured with in-memory storage only, so it writes nothing to your browser.
